Global Problems, Local Solutions
ITMEMS targets coastal and marine managers at all levels, recognising very different needs and profiles at 3 broad levels:
- Local/site level
- Responsible for implementation of site level management, dealing with the local community, handling information needs and inputs from other levels
- Concerned generally with site based practical solutions to achieve strategic plan goals
- Has limited access and time for web based or paper information
- May have specialist training but has to deal with a broad range of immediate issues
- Bio-regional/national
- Responsible for planning, coordination, supervision for site level management
- Concerned substantially with the development and implementation of programs to achieve strategic goals
- Tends to have access and time to use web-based or paper information
- Generally has specialist training in a relevant discipline but is working in a multidisciplinary environment
- Global/Regional
- Responsible for planning, coordination, facilitation for regional programs to deliver global outcomes
- Concerned with identification of strategic goals and development of policy and resource base for their effective achievement
- Tends to be major user of web-based and paper information
- Generally has specialist training; familiar with a multidisciplinary and international environment
