The second International Tropical Marine Ecosystem Management Symposium (ITMEMS2) was a major outcome of the Joint Philippines-Sweden Secretariat of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI). It built on the foundation and approach of the first ITMEMS with the aim of creating a gathering to maximise productive discussion and information sharing by people involved in management of coral reefs and related ecosystems. The Symposium brought together managers, scientists and stakeholders and focused on a range of issues that they had earlier identified as priorities in the management of coral reefs and related ecosystems.
The Organising and Program Committees and the ICRI Secretariat warmly extend their thanks to the ITMEMS2 Participants. With their contributions, the objectives of sharing their experiences in recent efforts to identify and address priority issues in the conservation and sustainable use of coral reefs and associated ecosystems, identifying the gaps in management approaches, information needs and other priority issues in implementing the ICRI Framework for Action, have been achieved.
