The first International Tropical Marine Ecosystems Management Symposium (ITMEMS 1) was held in Townsville, Australia in November 1998 to provide a forum for managers of coral reefs and related ecosystems to discuss issues and share experiences. The International Tropical Marine Ecosystems Management Symposium Proceedings are available on the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) website.
